SAOCC Mission Statement

The mission of the San Antonio Outrigger Canoe Club is to perpetuate and educate the community with regards to the Hawaiian Culture and the sport of outrigger canoeing to include but not be limited to, Hawaiian Family Values (Ohana), Hawaiian traditions and the art and history of outrigger canoeing.

SAOCC will use outrigger canoeing to educate and promote physical and mental strength through weekly practices and outrigger sporting events across the country. We will also use our time on the water to promote and provide education to the community on water safety, water conservation, and wildlife awareness. Also it is our desire to show respect and conservation of wildlife and nature and will model the traditions that have shaped the Hawaiian Culture and Islands.

Lastly, SAOCC will provide opportunities for the club and community to engage in community service projects and other charitable and volunteering endeavors. We strongly believe that this will allow outrigger canoeing to be a vessel of inclusion and camaraderie for other local paddling groups and the community of San Antonio Texas.
